Grandma Kish's Recipes
|
I am blessed that I am part of a long lineage of fine cooks. I discovered the love of cooking at a very young age. I am thankful that so many of my family's treasured recipes were lovingly passed down from one generation to the next before I was entrusted with their care. It is my life's mission to preserve these recipes for my daughters and for the future generations of fine cooks yet to come.
Therefore, if you are looking for a specific recipe just drop me a note because I probably have it and I will post it as quickly as I can. Otherwise I will post a mix of my own new recipes, my updated old world recipes, and those recipes that have withstood the test of time.
Additionally, if you have any questions about cooking, converting recipes to a healthier option, changing them to accommodate a dietary concern, or facing the challenges life sends your way remember Mom is always eager to help you how ever she can.
I have three main objectives to creating this website and sharing my passion for food.
1. I love to cook and share it with those I hold most dear to my heart. Preparing your own food with your own hands can heal a troubled spirit and keep you healthier than most people imagine. I have personally overcome depression, PTSD, and remain cancer free in a large part due to the simple act of preparing and enjoying the food I love.
2. I want to ensure my children who love to cook will have easy electronic access to our cherished recipes. Few people realize that even the simple classic recipes from the Betty Crocker cookbooks printed in the 1970's, 1990's and the 2000's. It is the reason why, if you've ever tried making baking powder biscuits from a recipe you've downloaded they didn't taste quite as delicious as you remembered from your childhood.
3. I truly believe that embracing the art of cooking something you love for someone you love has the power to transform the chef into a confident, compassionate, person; nurture the loved ones they share it with; strengthen the family bonds; and ultimately change the world into a better place worthy of the future generations that will inherit it long after I am gone.
So I do hope you are inspired on some level to discover, or rediscover, the culinary delights and soulful satisfaction that dwells in the heart of your home, be it a dorm room, apartment, simple home, or magnificent mansion.
Enjoy!
